Six Nations Week 2 Tips and Previews, Friday 12th February

A closer look into the second week of Six Nations Championship action

Scotland got the job done for us as our suggested bet at the $5.25 quote to defeat England paid off handsome dividends.

There were a string of upset results in the opening week of the Six Nations tournament and the union crew are on deck again to find more winners this weekend.

England will be looking to bounce back with a win against Italy at Twickenham Stadium after a shock loss to Scotland in the opening week of the Six Nations Championship.

Eddie Jones’ squad were left stunned at the 11-6 defeat in London and the change has been made to bring in fly-half George Ford and prop Kyle Sinckler against an Italian squad who were belted off the park by France.

The Italians left to lick their wounds after a 50-10 defeat in their opening week extended their run of outs in the Six Nations to 28 games without a win.

A win against Scotland in the 2015 editions was this its last victory in this competition and to make matters worse, Italy has never defeated England in a competitive match at 27 attempts.

Expecting this to be a big winning result for the Red and Whites whose tournament spot is on the line already.

Suggested Bet: England to cover the line -36.5 at $1.94

These two old foes go head to head again following victories in their opening games of the tournament.

Wales fought on valiantly in its 21-16 triumph over Ireland in week one but faces an injury crisis ahead of the Sunday morning fixture.

Wayne Pivac has been forced to make five changes to the squad that defeated Ireland with Aaron Wainwright, Gareth Davies, Liam Williams, Nick Tompkins and Owen Watkin all coming into the side.

Talented blindside Josh Macleod was on the verge of earning his first cap for Wales but was pulled due to injury.

The injury adds to an already wounded Welsh side who will be without George North, Josh Navidi, Tomos Williams, Johnny Williams, Jonathan Davies and Hallam Amos.

Meanwhile, Scottish coach George Townsend has also been forced to make three changes to his squad.

The injured trio of Jamie Ritchie, Sean Maitland and Cameron Redpath will be replaced by Blade Thompson, James Lang and flanker Darcy Graham.

Scotland will be looking for back to back wins against Wales for the first time since its 27-22 win in 2002 and 30-22 win in 2003.

Townsends troops scored a 14-10 win against Wales back on October 31 2020 which would give them a huge vote of confidence heading into this game against a Welsh team plagued with injuries.

Suggested Bet: Scotland head to head at $1.43

ireland v france

february 15th 2:00am

Tournament favourites France travel to Dublin ahead of its second week Six Nations match against Ireland at Aviva Stadium.

The French could not have been more impressive in week one when it trounced Italy 50-10 in a classy display to solidify its credentials as the benchmark in the 2021 tournament.

In contrast, Ireland battled valiantly against Wales but were left to rue ill discipline, missed opportunities and a vulnerable defensive line as it succumbed 21-16 in Cardiff.

Peter O’Mahony’s red card in the 14th minute against Wales all but put a line through the hopes of its winning chances in the opening fixture of the tournament.

It’s now a must win game for the Irish who were in a similar situation in 2020.

Needing to defeat France to stay alive in the tournament the Irish ultimately fell short to go down 35-27.

Prior to that loss, Ireland held a formidable record over France in the Six Nations Championship winning six out of seven games played in the tournament between the two nations from 2014 to 2019.

This will be the first real test Les Bleus face in the six nation tournament and given the Irish have the advantage of playing on its home deck they can definitely get back to winning ways.

Suggested Bet: Ireland head to head at $2.37
