Thursday Night Greyhound Tips and Previews, Thursday 11th February

Our experts break down all the best races from across the nation

The greyhound action returns to Sandown Park and Albion Park Thursday night.

With 22 races to be contested across both venues we’ve nailed down the best bets across both programs to line those wallets and betting accounts with some winnings.

Sandown Park Race 1

#8 GRACE'S SPIRIT

This bitch, trained by Brendan Pursell, has put together two impressive wins from her three career starts to date.

After having not much luck in her debut she has since strung together consecutive victories at this track and distance. The first was in 29.56 and the second in 29.75.

Box eight also looks ideal for a greyhound of her type. She possesses good gate speed but takes a few strides to really hit her straps. If she gets clean air mid-race she’ll round this lot up and be too good again.

Suggested Bet: Grace’s Spirit win at $4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 8/ 2, 3/ 2, 3, 6

sandown park race 3

#3 gotham duke

Gotham Duke was outstanding when smashing the clock last start at Cranbourne to run 29.91 over the 520m.

He showed a heap of early speed in that heat win and there the two dogs drawn inside of him don’t have the toe to kick up and hold him out.

The race sets up perfectly for him to run a slick time again and although he’s not going to win us a holiday to the Bahamas he is a clear standout in this race.

Might pay to take him one out in an exotic bet.

Suggested Bet: Gotham Duke win at $1.4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 3/ 5, 6/ 1, 5, 6, 8

Sandown Race 5

#8 fortuna bale

This Mark Delbridge-trained two-year-old bitch stepped up to Grade 4/5 racing and had absolutely no luck to be well beaten.

That defeat came after winning two Grade 5 races at Shepparton in smart style.

She drops back to a Grade 5 race here and box eight might actually work in her favor as it gives her the chance to be able to wind up and cross the field when the lids open.

It looks a race of two between her and favourite Tiger Time but we’ll side with Fortuna Bale who is the better price.

Suggested Bet: Fortuna Bale win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Quinella – Tiger Time & Fortuna Bale

Sandown Race 7

#6 kismet storm

As soon as those lids rise Kismet Storm is off like a rocket.

His run last start at Healesville might not read well on paper but it was over an unsuitable distance over 350m

What is interesting is trainer Matthew Clark is using the same technique with this dog to try and replicate a Sandown win over 515m.

Three starts ago Kismet Storm was well beaten at Healesville but had his next start at Sandown over 515m and bolted in by leading all the way.

The set up is identical here. He just needs to overcome box six, which he can do so easily given his early speed.

Suggested Bet: Kismet Storm win at $3

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 2, 7/ 2, 3, 7

ALBION PARK RACE 1

#8 PELTZER

Going against Brother Jason and Night Capers who both resume from spells.

As such, Peltzer leaps off the page here as the dog to be with.

His debut run was a smart win when he pounced on the lead and never looked back over this track and distance. His second start was a second-placed finish behind a smart one called Hopeful Bill.

Peltzer has a nice platform to run a strong race and expect him to jump a much shorter price.

The main danger in the race is Zane Herrera who is drawn in box one. He was unlucky last start when being heavily checked and falling. Has since had a 12-day break.

If he hasn’t’ lost confidence after the mishap he’ll be looking to gun down the top pick.

Suggested Bet: Peltzer to win at $4.6. Saver bet on Zane Herrera at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 8/ 1, 7/ 1, 3, 7
