The Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets do battle for the first time this season as both teams look to continue their recent runs of form.

It was the Nuggets who put a halt to the 11-game win streak put together by the Utah Jazz with an emphatic 128-117 victory on the back of a brilliant 47-point game from centre Nikola Jokic.

The 25-year-old Serbian put on a clinic against the Jazz and his form will put Lakers’ All Star Anthony Davis to the test today.

Los Angeles responded strongly with back-to-back wins following consecutive losses in the middle of its five-game road trip.

Last season the two franchises met on four occasions in the regular season, with the Lakers winning three of the four games.

Although it must be noted the Nuggets did take it up to the Lakers at the Staples Centre registering a comprehensive 128-104 victory and a tight 124-121 loss.

The Nuggets form on the road this season has been well in the positive ledger too.

It has managed to notch up seven wins from 10 games in its travels across the country this season to set itself up for another tilt at the playoffs.

From a scoring point of view, It’s the Nuggets who hit the scoreboard more often with an average of 116.6 points per game compared to the Lakers 111.8.

But again, as is the case with championship winning teams, defence wins you trophies.

The Lakers defence continues to be amongst the best in the league only conceding 104 points per game.

The return home for Frank Vogel’s men should be enough to get them over the line here.

Suggested Bet: LA Lakers head to head at $1.48

same game multi

There is some good value to be found in a same game multi bet for this game.

Let’s start with the total points scored market.

The market has this set at 216.5.

Predicting this to be +216.5 given the history of high scoring between these two teams in their three head to head outings.

From a player scoring perspective Anthony Davis represents great value to throw into the same multi to score over 24.5 points for the game.

He loves scoring buckets against the Nuggets in recent history.

With an average of 29.25 points per game in his last four outings against the Nuggets he has to be respected here and part of our same game multi.

Anthony Davis will be the centre of attention again as we focus on the last leg of the multi.

He’s notched up 10 or more rebounds in three of his last four against the Nuggets and given his 9.7 rebound per game average at Staples Centre this year.

Therefore, Davis to get over 7.5 rebounds for the game he has to be the last leg of the multi here.

Suggested Bet:

  • Leg 1: La Lakers head to head
  • Leg 2: Total points scored over 216.5
  • Leg 3: Anthony Davis over 24.5 points
  • Leg 4: Anthony Davis over 7.5 rebounds

Combined odds = $8.50
