Thursday Night Greyhound Tips and Previews, Thursday 4th February

Our experts break down all the best races from across the nation

A pair of Group 1’s headline the preview and best bets for the BetDeluxe Thursday night greyhound preview.

The Gold Bullion Final (520m) and Gold Cup Final (710m) are the feature Group 1 events from the 12-race card at Albion Park.

There are also a handful of greyhounds chasing the lure around Sandown that have caught the eye.

Albion Park Race 6 - Gold Cup Final (710m)

#7 sunset bourbski

Sunset Bourbski was brilliant when winning her heat of the Gold Cup last start.

She was not particularly well set-up in that race having drawn box one.

Her racing style is to get back and absolutely charge home through the middle and final stages which has proved quite profitable with a $122,750 career prize money figure.

Box seven is an ideal draw for her. She can wind herself up outside of runners and hopefully steer clear of any carnage that might occur as the dogs sort their order out in the first bend.

Would have put Here’s Tears on top, who has beaten Sunset Bourski on two occasions, but he’s got Maggie Moo Moo drawn immediately to his outside. Maggie Moo Moo and Here’s Tears are likely to bounce towards the front here but the former showed quicker early toe.

Here’s Tears might cop a squeeze having drawn box four, and his record from the middle draw is not ideal either.

He’s been beaten four times in a row from the blue with his last win for that particular draw coming in August 2020.

As a result, Sunset Bourbski looks set to add another Group 1 Cup to Andrea Dailly’s cabinet.

Suggested Bet: Back Sunset Bourbski at $2.8

Albion Park Race 8 - Gold Bullion Final (520m)

#4 shima shine

The early turn of foot Shima Shine showed in the Gold Bullion Final heat last week was that of a champion greyhound and that’s exactly what he is – a champion.

He ran 29.62 which was the fastest time of all three heats on the night and did so by smashing his rivals.

The gap to second was 8.75 lengths and highlighted the class gulf between he and his opposition.

His main dangers Tommy Shelby and Sentenced don’t possess the early speed he showed and if he gets the front like he did in the heat, well, you may as well count your winnings.

Suggested Bet: Back Shima Shine to win at $2.5

Sandown Race 4 (515m)

#1 zipping walter

The Lisa Delbridge-trained Zipping Walter draws the favourable box one for a dog of his racing style.

He’s a mad railer of a dog and if he can get just an ounce of luck mid-race to allow for his finishing burst then he’ll launch over the top late to nab the likely early leader and favourite, Earn The Answers.

Suggested Bet: Zipping Walter win at $5

Sandown Race 7 (595m)

#6 my girl kizzy

My Girl Kizzy represents good value here.

She was flashing home late and was the clear eye-catcher at her most recent run at Sandown over 595m, where she posted a solid enough time to suggest she can win this.

The distance won’t be an issue for her either, as her last start in this grade was the first time she’d run over the 595m for a while and that should condition her nicely for this race.

Suggested Bet: My Girl Kizzy each-way at $7.5 the win and the place at $3.20

Sandown Race 8 (515m)

#1 cha cha charlie

Cha Cha Charlie looks the way to go win this one.

He ran third in a competitive heat at Cranbourne last start.

He looks likely to pinch a gap on the favourite Do It who will be lighting up the course in the middle and latter stages of the race.

The only other threats in this race seem to be Short Pork (box six) and Yozo Bale (box five) who will likely be ahead of Cha Cha Charlie in the run.

It’s tough to bet against Cha Cha Charlie in this race.

Suggested Bet: Back Cha Cha Circle to win at $5
