English Premier League Match Week 22 Tips and Previews, Tuesday 2nd February

The EPL moves into Match Week 20 and we have all the Tips and Previews to get you ready

The Premier League rolls on into match week 22 and it’s time for the BetDeluxe games of the round.

The best bets and previews ahead of yet another season-shaping set of fixtures are all highlighted below!

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal

february 3rd 5:00am

Arsenal will be looking to keep its undefeated run in the Premier League intact when it travels to Molineux to face the embattled Wolverhampton.

After playing in a scoreless draw against long standing rivals Manchester United, the Gunners extended its unbeaten run in the league to seven games.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has slowly but surely relieved the pressure that was on him only a month ago, as Arsenal slumped to four consecutive home defeats.

Meanwhile Wolverhampton has not been able to attain three points since the 16th of December 2020.

That was a 2-1 victory to Chelsea, who the Wolves coincidentally played in its most recent Premier League fixture, which too, like Arsenal, was an uninspiring scoreless draw.

The Gunners sit in 10th spot on the league table, eight points ahead of the Wolves.

Arteta will be hoping captain and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will return to the squad soon as he deals with personal issues outside of football, but it looks unlikely that he will return for this match.

There is also some doubt over Aubameyang’s right-hand man, Alexandre Lacazette, who landed heavily on his head in the draw against Manchester United and was substituted off late in the game.

In more positive injury news for Arsenal, it looks set to regain talented duo Bukayo Saka (sore hip) and Kieran Tierney (calf soreness) for this midweek clash.

The momentum Arsenal have at the moment should be able to account for a Wolverhampton side that is struggling.

The draw Wolverhampton played against Chelsea showed it still has the grit to match with the ‘bigger’ Premier League squads but the Gunners should prove too classy here.

Prediction: Wolverhampton 0 Arsenal 2

Suggested Bets: Arsenal head to head at $2.15

Manchester United v Southampton

february 3rd 7:15am

Manchester United welcome Southampton to Old Trafford in a bid to keep within touching distance of the Premier League summit on Wednesday morning.

The Red Devils were surpassed by cross-town rival Manchester City at the top of the league table after a shock 2-1 loss to bottom placed Sheffield United was followed by a scoreless draw against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Southampton finds itself stuck in the middle of league table after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at St Mary’s saw the Saints drop down to 11th place.

The loss was Southampton’s third league defeat in a row and manager Ralph Hussenhutl will be wanting to reverse that form quickly.

In the reverse fixture of this match, earlier in the season, it was United who came away victorious.

After Southampton went two goals ahead thanks to first-half strikes from Jan Bednarek and James Ward-Prowse, United found an extra gear in the last half hour of the match.

A 60th minute goal to Bruno Fernandes was followed up by an Edison Cavani double – which included the match-winning 92nd minute goal – proved enough for United to pinch all three points.

United might be without midfield rock Scott McTominay for this game after he was an early substitute against Arsenal.

The Scottish international had stomach cramps during the match and fell ill but United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confident McTominay would be able get up for the fixture against the Saints. What is interesting to note about these two teams is the often high-scoring affair they find themselves in when going head to head.

The last five Premier League outings between United and Southampton there have been 20 goals scored.

Expecting there to be goals in this game with United keen to hit the scoreboard on home turf against the vulnerable Saints.

Prediction: Manchester United 2 Southampton 1

Suggested Bet: Same Game Multi

  • Manchester United win at $1.5
  • Total goals scored over 2.5 at $1.60

Combined odds = $2.4

Tottenham v Chelsea

february 5th 7:00am

Traditional London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea do battle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday morning as both teams look to find momentum in the second half the season.

It’s safe to say both teams have under performed given the expectations placed on them heading into the 2020/21 campaign.

Chelsea has battled its way into seventh as of Monday the 1st of February which is a far cry from the title aspirations it held.

Manager Frank Lamapard was the victim for the so far uninspiring season with the Chelsea board sacking him early last week.

He has since been replaced by Tim Tuchel and the former Paris Saint German boss notched up his first win as coach of the Blues with a comfortable 2-0 result over Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

While for Jose Mourinho and his men, it’s been a battle to find the title challenging winning consistency needed to remain near the top of the league.

Tottenham currently sit sixth in the league as of today, however, it’s last two Premier League clashes have yielded zero points.

A shock 1-0 loss to relegation battlers Brighton & Hove Albion came on the back of a humbling 3-1 defeat to reigning champions Liverpool.

Mourinho has been highly criticised this year for his lack of offensive game style given the talent he has up front with the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heiung-min lining up for Spurs week after week.

We all know Mourinho is the master of ‘pulling the rabbit out of the hat’ when we all think he’s defeated.

Spurs held on for a 0-0 draw last time it played Chelsea and the three games prior to that it was three wins in a row for the Blues.

This one has the makings of a tight, low-scoring affair. With Mourinho set to sit back and defend, while Tuchel continues to find his best formula in what is only his third match in charge of Chelsea.

Prediction: Tottenham 1 Chelsea 1

Suggested bets: Draw at $3.4
