Randwick Guineas Day Tips & Previews, Saturday 5th March

We remain at Randwick for the second weekend running as the BetDeluxe racing analysts prepare the best bets ahead of Randwick Guineas Day.

More wet weather is predicted for Sydney as the BetDeluxe racing team prepares itself for a huge 10-race card at Randwick on Saturday.

The Randwick Guineas is the feature event on the day and it is supported by another Group 1 with the running of the Canterbury Stakes.

randwick race 1

#9 icecrusher

Icecrusher is a wet tracker who is going to appreciate the rain in Sydney.

The seven-year-old are has loomed up to win at her two runs this preparation, but has just peaked on her efforts.

She is now third-up at the mile and will be hitting peak fitness.

Suggested Bet: Icecrusher each-way at $11 the win and $3.5 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5/10

randwick race 2

#1 russian conquest

This two-year-old filly by star Group 1 winner Russian Revolution has proven her worth as a juvenile.

She ran up to beat gun galloper Coolangatta in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but was nutted out in a photo finish.

Brings in good figures to this race and has wet-track credentials after winning on a soft five on debut.

Drawing out wide looks as though it will be beneficial with the middle to outside lanes being the superior footing.

Suggested Bet: Russian Conquest win at $1.85

Confidence Rating: 7.5/10

randwick race 3

#8 custodian

Custodian moved along nicely in his trial to date and is one of only two horses in the race making their debut.

The two-year-old colt by Shalaa won his 1050-metre trial, but seems to have been ignored by the market.

He dons the blinkers on debut and gets the services of champion jockey Nash Rawiller who is always looking to be positively away.

Worth an each-way spec at long odds if you are having a play.

Suggested Bet: Custodian each-way at $14 the win at $3.80

Confidence Rating: 4.5/10

randwick race 4

#1 entente

Entente will be building towards peak fitness with this run.

He was resuming over 1900 metres last start and felt the pinch of not having race fitness under his belt.

He ran a bold race in a very similar event second-up last preparation and we get double-figure odds to see if he can do it again here.

Should get a nice run from the barrier and gets a good weight swing on the favourite for having being well beaten by him last start.

Suggested Bet: Entente each-way at $11 the win and $3.5 the place.

Confidence Rating: 5.5/10

randwick race 5

#2 eduardo

Eduardo goes head to head with his old sparring partner in Nature Strip yet again.

He was well held by Nature Strip up the straight in the Lightning Stakes, but coming back around a bend might just suit the Joseph Pride-trained sprinter that little bit better this time.

He handles the wet going and represents better value than his rival.

Suggested Bet: Eduardo win at $2.5

Confidence Rating: 7/10

randwick race 6

#3 mazu

Mazu will have to transfer over Rosehill form to Randwick, but he is more than capable of doing so.

He is a winner at this track already and enjoys getting his hoof into wet going with three starts of soft tracks for two wins.

Went like a rocket when resuming from a spell and should only show improvement from that run.

Drawn a middle pin which is ideal for the conditions and should be winning this based off what he did last start.

Suggested Bet: Mazu win at $3.5

Confidence Rating: 8.5/10

randwick race 7

#9 forbidden love

Possibly one of the best wet trackers in Australia at the moment.

The four-year-old mare plows through the heavy going with four starts registering three wins and her win last week was sensational.

She glided through the Randwick turf like a duck on water and races on the back up here.

She must be travelling amazingly well to be racing so soon and she is the one to be with here.

Suggested Bet: Forbidden Love win at $3

Confidence Rating: 9/10

randwick race 8

#1 anamoe

There is nothing more to say about this bloke.

The three-year-old colt for the Godolphin team just knows how to win big races.

Wet, dry, fast tempo, slow tempo, inside barrier or outside barrier, it does not matter with him.

He had to dig deep to win the Hobartville a fortnight ago, but his fighting qualities were there for all to see.

He’ll settle in the rear half of the field, whip around them in one fell swoop and launch his amazing turn of speed.

Suggested Bet: Anamoe win at $2

Confidence Rating: 9.5/10

randwick race 9

#1 polly grey

As much as the 61kgs might be a deterrent when considering Polly Grey, her form on heavy tracks is too hard to ignore.

James McDonald takes the ride and that gives us huge confidence this mare will be at her best.

It is the perfect scenario for her with the trial in between runs and coming back from 2000 metres to 1600 metres.

It is a recipe Chris Waller has used to great success and she is another horse who just loves racing on soft and heavy going.

Suggested Bet: Polly Grey win at $4

Confidence Rating: 8/10

randwick race 10

#10 never talk

Never Talk gets in on the minimum weight and that is going to help her chances on the rain-effected Randwick track.

She hit the line nicely when resuming over 1100 metres last start and is a winner of two from three second-up efforts.

Her record on heavy tracks reads two wins from two starts and we have to be with her here from perfect barrier.

Jason Collett stays aboard and we are hoping he can angle his way to the middle of straight to find the best ground.

Suggested Bet: Never Talk win at $4.20

Confidence Rating: 6.5/10
